Organised by the eHealth Consortium Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics, and HL7 Hong Kong, this regional highlight has become a vital platform for showcasing the latest developments in healthcare technologies. We are privileged to have the continued support of the Health Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, the Hospital Authority, and the Digital Policy Office, which underscores the shared commitment to advancing healthcare innovation.
The theme of this year’s conference, "Engage a Wider Community, Empower Preventive Care, and Evolve with Cutting-edge Technologies," highlights the transformative potential of technology in reshaping healthcare. I would like to take this opportunity to elaborate on these three focal points:
Engage a Wider Community
With the successful implementation of Hong Kong’s territory-wide eHealth Record Sharing System, we are witnessing a significant expansion in the use of eHealth and health data across diverse settings. This system, which connects public and private hospitals, is now extending its reach to clinics of private doctors, elderly care homes, and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) operating District Health Centers. These advancements are enabling broader adoption of health technologies and empowering these institutions to provide more holistic and patient-centered care. By engaging a wider community in the digital health ecosystem, we can ensure that health data is leveraged effectively to improve accessibility, enhance care quality, and foster a more inclusive healthcare environment.
Empower Preventive Care
Preventive care is the cornerstone of a sustainable healthcare system, and emerging technologies are placing greater power into the hands of citizens and caregivers. Through advancements in wearables, health monitoring devices, and mobile health applications, individuals are now better equipped to manage their own health proactively. At the same time, caregivers can deliver high-quality care at home, reducing the reliance on hospital-based services. This shift not only improves health outcomes but also alleviates the burden on healthcare facilities, ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed. By empowering preventive care, we are fostering a culture of self-management, early intervention, and community-based support that will transform how health services are delivered.
Evolve with Cutting-edge Technologies
The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics is driving a new era of healthcare transformation. From AI-powered diagnostics to robotic surgeries and automated patient management systems, these innovations are fundamentally redefining the way healthcare services are delivered and managed.
